The Third Revolution

New Voice
Unlike the other two fashion revolutions there was no massive war necessary to start a revolution in fashion. Pre-hip-hop there was a social war between races in the United States. An entire race and section of the world was now being heard out of the streets of New York because of this new genre of music. Hip-hop became a phenomena and new lifestyle. Ideas of hip-hop spread through music, movies, television, advertising, dancing, slang, attitude, and fashion

Hip-hop Revolution
Hip-hop has changed who we look to for fashion. Some of the major icons in the fashion industry are hip-hop artists, and some of those artists have started their own fashion lines. Hip-hop fashion is created by us and what we wear.
Also fashion used to be from concept to consumer, which means first there is a concept made by the designer and then the consumer buys it and wears it. Hip-hop has reversed it to consumer to concept. We take the best pieces of different designers and wear it our own way. The consumer decides what to wear and the concept or ideas come from designers come later based on what we buy.
